Frequently asked questions about this course

When is the QMB course more appropriate than a quality-management foundation course?

QMB is suitable when you are expected to coordinate, establish or develop a quality management system. Beyond process understanding, it covers roles, documented information, indicators and actions. Quality Specialist is the more foundation-focused option for an initial introduction to contributing to quality work.

Is the QMB solely responsible for every quality task in an organisation?

The course addresses the QMB role as a central quality-management interface. Coordination means connecting responsibilities, information and actions. The organisation must define how responsibility is actually distributed. A QMB can support an effective system without personally taking over every operational task from every department.

Do I need to be proficient in quality management before attending?

The course is intended for prospective QMBs, quality specialists and process owners. We discuss prior knowledge and objectives before booking. Bring an outline of your future responsibilities if possible; this helps establish whether you first need additional foundations or whether the QMB level is already appropriate.

Will the course help make a QMS clear rather than bureaucratic?

Processes and documented information are key topics. People need to understand their tasks and the evidence required. You therefore consider documentation in relation to roles, coordination and improvement, rather than as an isolated exercise in producing the largest possible collection of forms.

What role do indicators play in QMB work?

The course connects indicators with internal feedback and improvement actions. Useful information supports a decision or assessment of a process. You should understand what is measured, who needs the information and what action is expected when an unusual development appears.

How much time should I allow for the QMB course?

The offer comprises 40 teaching units, approximately 30 hours. We agree the schedule and dates before the course starts. Also discuss the responsibilities you will be taking on so that course planning fits both your role and your organisation’s available time.

Is the QMB certificate the same as ISO 9001 certification of our organisation?

No. The Academy award concerns your professional training. Certification of an organisation’s quality management system is a separate process performed by a certification body. Attending QMB training can support establishing and coordinating the system, but it does not replace assessment of the organisation’s system.

Can I progress towards Quality Manager after QMB?

The Quality Manager course is intended, among others, for experienced QMBs and senior process owners. It shifts the emphasis towards strategy, leadership, quality culture and performance assessment. Progression is most useful when you already apply your knowledge and are expected to take on greater management responsibility.
