Who should attend?

Professionals working in information & cybersecurity, with responsibilities appropriate to the selected course level.

Prerequisites

To benefit fully from the course, you should understand the fundamentals of cybersecurity and its management.

Course structure and delivery

The full course follows the 5-day PECB agenda. Learn live with a qualified trainer through exercises, discussion and practical cases. Online and classroom delivery cover the same content. Examination scheduling is agreed in line with the course agenda.

Online sessions are delivered live using alfaview. The Odoo portal provides course information and materials. Dates, teaching language and classroom location are agreed before the course starts.

Materials, examination and certification

The full course includes official PECB training materials, tuition in the selected format and the first PECB examination attempt.

The course prepares you for the PECB examination for Lead Cybersecurity Manager. After passing the exam, you can apply for the corresponding PECB credential. PECB assesses eligibility and awards the credential. Depending on the credential level, additional evidence of professional and relevant practical experience is required. Attendance or a passed exam alone does not guarantee the full credential.

Option: 4 hours of exam preparation

An optional four-hour live exam preparation session is available for €650. It is intended for participants who are already studying independently and does not replace the complete PECB course. Materials and examination arrangements for this option are agreed separately in advance.

Teaching and examination language

Teaching languages: German, English or Hungarian. The selected teaching language is confirmed when scheduling the course. Hungarian is a teaching language for this PECB course only and is not a promised examination language. The examination language and the language of official PECB materials are agreed separately before booking.

Frequently asked questions about this course

How does a cybersecurity programme differ from an individual security project?

A project might introduce a new access-management solution. A programme connects projects with ongoing responsibilities, risks and objectives. When planning, look beyond the next tool purchase and ask how the organisation sets priorities, evaluates progress and responds when its business, technology or risk environment changes.

How should I prioritise improvements with a limited budget?

Start with important business processes and realistic loss scenarios. Compare the current position with an achievable target. A smaller initiative may be more useful than a major tool project when it closes a critical gap and has clear ownership and results that can actually be checked.

Which cybersecurity metrics are useful for senior management?

Choose measures according to the decisions they support. A count of blocked attacks says little on its own about a specific business risk. Explain which critical activities are affected, what has improved and which remaining risks require a management decision, a change of priorities or additional resources.

How can I stop vulnerability lists from dominating the entire programme?

Treat lists as input rather than as the whole decision. You also need the affected business process, existing safeguards, ownership and potential consequences. A useful work item therefore goes beyond “fix this weakness”: it identifies urgency, responsibility, an explainable approach to exceptions and how the result will be checked.

What changes when important IT services are outsourced?

Your governance responsibilities remain. For an outsourced service, document expectations, contacts, evidence and escalation routes clearly. Pay particular attention to handovers: who detects a problem, who decides on action and who informs those affected? Unclear boundaries can cause difficulties even when the provider itself is technically capable.

How do I connect prevention with incident preparedness?

Plan protection, detection and response together. For an important process, clarify which warning signs are reported, who can authorise interruption and how recovery is coordinated. Exercises can then show whether the documented arrangements remain understandable and workable when people have incomplete information and must act under time pressure.

Do I need to master every security technology before taking this course?

A management role requires you to understand technical decisions and challenge them constructively, but not to perform every configuration yourself. Prepare by looking at your responsibilities: where do you need deeper expertise, and where do you need reliable information from specialists to make an informed decision?

Do I automatically receive the Lead credential after passing the exam?

Passing the examination and qualifying for a particular PECB certification level are separate matters. The level may also require documented professional experience and practical work. Check your position before enrolling and, where appropriate, plan a suitable initial credential rather than assuming that attendance alone establishes a particular professional title.
