Who should attend?
Professionals working in information & cybersecurity, with responsibilities appropriate to the selected course level.
Prerequisites
A fundamental understanding of the ISO/IEC 27033 series and general knowledge of network security are required.
Course structure and delivery
The full course follows the 5-day PECB agenda. Learn live with a qualified trainer through exercises, discussion and practical cases. Online and classroom delivery cover the same content. Examination scheduling is agreed in line with the course agenda.
Online sessions are delivered live using alfaview. The Odoo portal provides course information and materials. Dates, teaching language and classroom location are agreed before the course starts.
Materials, examination and certification
The full course includes official PECB training materials, tuition in the selected format and the first PECB examination attempt.
The course prepares you for the PECB examination for ISO/IEC 27033 Lead Network Security Manager. After passing the exam, you can apply for the corresponding PECB credential. PECB assesses eligibility and awards the credential. Depending on the credential level, additional evidence of professional and relevant practical experience is required. Attendance or a passed exam alone does not guarantee the full credential.
Option: 4 hours of exam preparation
An optional four-hour live exam preparation session is available for €650. It is intended for participants who are already studying independently and does not replace the complete PECB course. Materials and examination arrangements for this option are agreed separately in advance.
Teaching and examination language
Teaching languages: German, English or Hungarian. The selected teaching language is confirmed when scheduling the course. Hungarian is a teaching language for this PECB course only and is not a promised examination language. The examination language and the language of official PECB materials are agreed separately before booking.
Self-employed? Explore KOMPASS before booking.
KOMPASS may support suitable professional development for eligible solo self-employed people in Germany. Arrange a consultation with us to discuss course selection. Mandatory funding advice and eligibility checks are provided by an official KOMPASS advisory centre. Only make a binding booking after the qualification voucher has been issued. Training must include at least 20 hours; not every offer meets this condition. Funding eligibility is assessed individually.

Frequently asked questions about this course
Is this course an alternative to technical networking training such as CCNA?
The emphasis is on structured management and design of network security. That differs from learning to configure particular devices and vendor products. If you want to administer networks yourself, add practical product experience. Security decisions require architecture, risks and operational requirements to be considered together rather than in isolation.
Is a network with many VLANs automatically securely segmented?
VLANs alone do not establish which communication should be allowed or how rules are enforced. Start with necessary data flows, important systems and responsibilities. Then identify where connections are controlled and reviewed. Adding segments without understandable rules can make operations harder without resolving the actual security problem.
Is a VPN already a complete solution for secure remote access?
A VPN protects particular communication connections, but it does not replace a complete access assessment. Also consider identity, permissions, devices and reachable services. For a remote-access scenario, break the question “Who may access what, using which device?” into individual decisions that can be understood and checked.
How does ISO/IEC 27033 relate to hybrid networks and cloud applications?
Security analysis should follow your actual connections, including applications outside your own premises. Document boundaries, identities and dependencies. In a hybrid environment, a shared view across network, cloud and application teams helps prevent safeguards at interfaces from being assumed rather than explicitly assigned and implemented.
What documentation helps when reviewing firewall rules?
Connect each technical rule with its business purpose. Record which data flow is needed, who owns it and when it should be reviewed again. This helps distinguish a rule that still supports a real requirement from one that remains only because an old project was never formally closed out.
Why does monitoring matter when we already have protective network systems?
Protective rules describe the intended state; monitoring helps identify deviations. Define which observations matter and who evaluates them. A large volume of logs is not useful by itself. The important step is turning observations into understandable signals with a workable route for investigation and response when needed.
Which technical fundamentals are helpful before the Lead course?
You should be able to understand networking terminology and typical communication flows. Test your preparation with a simple diagram: can you explain how an application communicates with users, databases and external services? If substantial gaps appear, a focused refresher in networking fundamentals is a useful first step.
What example from my own work is useful for course preparation?
Choose an upcoming change, such as external maintenance access or connecting a new location. Sketch its purpose, data flows, participants and open questions without identifying details. This gives you focused questions about architecture and responsibility while avoiding disclosure of confidential network plans, real addresses or access credentials.

| EasyELEarning Academy This course offer | Network risks, security requirements, architecture and segmentation are connected with secure communications, protection concepts, operations and monitoring through the ISO/IEC 27033 standards series. | The learning objective is to assess network security requirements, plan protection concepts and coordinate implementation and operation with attention to risks and organisational responsibilities. | The personal PECB credential requires a passed examination and the conditions of the requested certification level; regular manager designations also require experience evidence. |
| EC-Council iClass Certified Network Defender (CND) Related network security with a more operational defence focus; not an ISO/IEC 27033 management programme. Provider’s courseAdditional source | Vendor-neutral training covers network, endpoint, application and data protection plus virtual, wireless and cloud environments; practical labs complement detection, response and threat analysis. | The learning objective is to implement network defence, detect security events and respond to attacks, with practical exercises aimed especially at operational network personnel. | The personal EC-Council CND certification requires the corresponding examination and eligibility conditions. Training completion and the assessed certification credential are separate steps. |
| Cisco Implementing and Operating Cisco Security Core Technologies (SCOR) Related technical network security focused on Cisco products; not a vendor-neutral ISO/IEC 27033 programme. Provider’s courseAdditional source | SCOR covers Cisco security solutions for networks, cloud, content, endpoints and access, together with visibility, firewalls, VPNs and layered protection architectures in operation. | The learning objective is to implement and operate core Cisco security functions, counter threats and deploy technical safeguards within the relevant product environment. | Examination 350-701 SCOR leads to Cisco Certified Specialist – Security Core. It forms part of the CCNP Security route rather than completing that entire qualification. |
