Course structure and delivery

The full course follows the 2-day PECB agenda. Learn live with a qualified trainer through exercises, discussion and practical cases. Online and classroom delivery cover the same content. Examination scheduling is agreed in line with the course agenda.

Online sessions are delivered live using alfaview. The Odoo portal provides course information and materials. Dates, teaching language and classroom location are agreed before the course starts.

Materials, examination and certification

The full course includes official PECB training materials, tuition in the selected format and the first PECB examination attempt.

The course prepares you for the PECB examination for Cybersecurity Foundation. After passing the exam, you can apply for the corresponding PECB credential. PECB assesses eligibility and awards the credential. This credential does not require professional or project experience. PECB examination and certificate rules apply.

Option: 4 hours of exam preparation

An optional four-hour live exam preparation session is available for €650. It is intended for participants who are already studying independently and does not replace the complete PECB course. Materials and examination arrangements for this option are agreed separately in advance.

Teaching and examination language

Teaching languages: German, English or Hungarian. The selected teaching language is confirmed when scheduling the course. Hungarian is a teaching language for this PECB course only and is not a promised examination language. The examination language and the language of official PECB materials are agreed separately before booking.

Frequently asked questions about this course

Do I need coding skills to start learning cybersecurity?

Coding is not a prerequisite for an introductory understanding. Connecting technical terms with risks and everyday processes matters more at this stage. Foundation is not a programming course. If you later want to administer systems, develop security tools or perform technical analysis, build those skills separately and deliberately.

What is the difference between a threat, a vulnerability and a risk?

Consider a shared account: possible misuse is a threat, while unclear access rules can be a vulnerability. Understanding the risk also involves possible consequences and likelihood. Distinguishing these concepts helps you discuss sensible safeguards rather than treating every technical weakness or alarming headline as equally important.

How does cybersecurity relate to an ISMS?

Cybersecurity addresses risks and protection in the digital environment. An information security management system provides organised management of information security. In practice they connect: a technical safeguard needs ownership, rules and regular review. The course helps you recognise these relationships when discussing security with different business teams.

Is awareness training enough to address phishing?

Treat awareness as one part of the response. For your own workflow, also ask how suspicious messages are reported, who responds and how a potentially affected account is secured. This turns advice about careful behaviour into an understandable process with clear contacts and practical next steps.

Is Foundation a useful first step when changing careers?

Foundation can help you understand the field and choose a direction. Next, consider whether you prefer technical work, risk management or organisational responsibilities. A course alone does not guarantee employment. Relevant practice and skills matched to your intended role remain important when planning a realistic career transition.

Will I learn penetration testing and specific hacking tools?

The emphasis is on cybersecurity fundamentals and understanding the wider subject. Do not treat it as a specialist penetration-testing qualification. If that is your goal, identify the additional networking, system administration and supervised laboratory practice you need for that technical role after establishing a sound foundation.

Why do I need cybersecurity knowledge when we use cloud services?

A cloud provider does not take over every responsibility in your organisation. Think about granting access, sharing information and removing access for departing employees. The division of responsibilities depends on the service. Clarify these questions deliberately, even when your organisation does not operate the underlying infrastructure itself.

How can I prepare for Cybersecurity Foundation?

Write down three situations from your work in which information could be lost, shared incorrectly or changed without permission. Remove names and confidential details. These examples help you connect new terminology with real decisions and ask focused questions about the situations that matter in your own environment.
