Frequently asked questions about this course
When is Lead IT Corporate Governance Manager the better choice?
Lead is particularly relevant when you need to shape or improve governance across several teams. Consider your task: individual approvals or a shared governance model? For the latter, you should already bring experience of IT decisions and competing stakeholder interests to the learning process.
How can I prepare for governance cases involving several departments?
Choose an initiative where business, IT and procurement have different objectives. Write down their expectations and disputed decisions without immediately proposing a solution. A clear problem statement reveals missing shared goals and shows which responsibilities should be clarified first.
How can I advance governance without being a line manager?
Clarify your mandate and identify someone who can sponsor decisions. Prepare a concrete improvement with its benefits, effort and unresolved questions. This creates a basis for discussion. The course can support your reasoning, but formal decision authority comes from the organisation, not from the certificate.
How can I compare competing IT investments meaningfully?
For a practice case, use common comparison criteria: expected benefits, major risks, resource needs and dependencies. Make assumptions visible and avoid false precision in uncertain figures. The important point is a shared decision framework that helps participants understand why one initiative receives priority.
How can I tell whether a governance model works in practice?
Follow an actual decision from request to later review. Were responsibilities clear, risks considered and expected benefits followed up? For your study work, this offers more tangible evidence than counting policies. Record delays and unanswered escalations as well as successful steps.
What experience does PECB require for the regular Lead credential?
PECB specifies five years of professional experience, including two in IT governance, plus 300 hours of relevant governance activities. The examination and other application conditions also apply. Review your evidence beforehand; the Lead course title does not mean all participants automatically receive the same credential after passing.
Can I automatically expect 2024 materials for the Lead course?
No; this should be confirmed explicitly. PECB marks the existing Lead offering as no longer updated and refers to possible new versions on request. Course version, materials and corresponding examination therefore need agreement before the date is confirmed. An older course name alone does not establish its standards edition.
How can I combine the five-day Lead course with my preferred language?
ELA offers the five-day format live online or in person. Teaching language is agreed when scheduling, with German, English or Hungarian available. At the same time, confirm the language of official materials and the examination. Hungarian teaching does not promise a Hungarian examination paper.
