Course structure and delivery

Online sessions are delivered live using alfaview. The Odoo portal provides course information and materials. Dates, teaching language and classroom location are agreed before the course starts.
Materials, examination and certification
The full course includes official PECB training materials, tuition in the selected format and the first PECB examination attempt.
The course prepares you for the PECB examination for ISO/IEC 38500 Foundation. After passing the exam, you can apply for the corresponding PECB credential. PECB assesses eligibility and awards the credential. This credential does not require professional or project experience. PECB examination and certificate rules apply.
Option: 4 hours of exam preparation
An optional four-hour live exam preparation session is available for €650. It is intended for participants who are already studying independently and does not replace the complete PECB course. Materials and examination arrangements for this option are agreed separately in advance.
Teaching and examination language
Teaching languages: German, English or Hungarian. The selected teaching language is confirmed when scheduling the course. Hungarian is a teaching language for this PECB course only and is not a promised examination language. The examination language and the language of official PECB materials are agreed separately before booking.

PECB course profile and credential requirements
Frequently asked questions about this course
How should I position ISO/IEC 38500 alongside COBIT and ITIL?
Think about the level of decisions involved: ISO/IEC 38500 addresses accountable governance of IT use, while COBIT offers a more detailed governance and management framework. Start your course choice by asking whether you need clarity on responsibilities or deeper work on operational service processes.
Is IT governance only relevant to IT leadership?
Procurement, business departments and executive management also make decisions with IT consequences. Consider buying new software: who describes the benefit, owns the risk and approves the budget? Questions like these make the course relevant beyond a purely technical leadership role.
Does Foundation relate to ISO/IEC 38500:2024?
The current PECB Foundation course profile names ISO/IEC 38500:2024. If you have older study materials, check their edition before preparing. In particular, do not assume older summaries are the current examination basis. We confirm the official material version used when arranging your course.
How can a cloud decision illustrate governance?
Look at a proposed cloud service from three angles: which business objective should it support, who may approve its use, and how will benefits be assessed afterwards? This study example shifts attention from product features to accountable decisions and helps introduce the governance perspective.
How can I avoid turning governance into extra bureaucracy?
Begin with a decision that repeatedly gets stuck. Identify missing ownership or information and sketch a simple improvement. A new committee is not automatically the best answer. First consider whether clearer decision rights and one understandable report would already help the people involved.
What knowledge and experience are required for Foundation?
PECB lists no specific entry prerequisites, and the Foundation credential does not require professional experience. Passing the examination and completing the application remain necessary. A concrete workplace example is useful for learning, because it lets you trace responsibilities and decisions in a familiar setting.
Do I need coding or network administration skills for ISO/IEC 38500?
For preparation, focus on understanding an IT-related decision rather than practising code. Be ready to explain who needs a service and what a poor decision could cause. Technical detail can help, but Foundation centres on a shared language for direction and accountability.
Can I attend the two-day governance introduction live in Hungarian?
Yes. Hungarian is offered as a teaching language for this PECB course, alongside German and English. The ELA Foundation offering lasts two days including the examination, online or in person. A Hungarian exam is not promised; examination and official-material languages are confirmed separately before booking.
