Prerequisites

A basic understanding of ISO 31000 and comprehensive knowledge of risk management are required.

Course structure and delivery

The five-day Academy programme comprises four training days and the examination. Official PECB course content is complemented by guided exercises, practical cases, in-depth study and examination preparation. Online and classroom delivery cover the same learning objectives.

Online sessions are delivered live using alfaview. The Odoo portal provides course information and materials. Dates, teaching language and classroom location are agreed before the course starts.

Materials, examination and certification

The full course includes official PECB training materials, tuition in the selected format and the first PECB examination attempt.

The course prepares you for the PECB examination for ISO 31000 Risk Manager. After passing the exam, you can apply for the corresponding PECB credential. PECB assesses eligibility and awards the credential. Depending on the credential level, additional evidence of professional and relevant practical experience is required. Attendance or a passed exam alone does not guarantee the full credential.

Frequently asked questions about this course

Is Risk Manager more suitable for operational risk than a purely IT qualification?

If your work spans delivery capability, projects and operations, this offering's broad perspective is a useful comparison point. Decide according to the responsibilities you will actually hold. A familiar certificate name alone says little about which training best complements the experience you already have.

What foundations should I have before Risk Manager training?

PECB expects basic ISO 31000 knowledge and comprehensive understanding of risk management. As a self-check, describe a risk in relation to an objective, justify its assessment and explain a possible response. If those steps are unfamiliar, strengthen your foundations before starting Manager training.

How can I turn an unclear risk list into a useful working document?

Select a few important entries and add the objective, possible effects, owner and next review step to each. Do not immediately delete similar risks; first check whether they have different causes. For learning, a traceable relationship is more useful than a large spreadsheet of unclear labels.

Is a red-amber-green risk matrix enough for sound decisions?

Colour alone explains neither assumptions nor available actions. In a practice case, add why a rating was chosen, what information is missing and what a proposed action may change. Someone else can then examine your reasoning rather than simply debate the colour of a cell.

How can I prevent risks being recorded but never acted on?

In your practice work, connect each significant action need with an owner, a next step and a review date. Also ask who will be approached if a decision is missing. This makes it visible whether the register supports decisions or merely collects information.

What experience is needed for the regular PECB Risk Manager credential?

PECB specifies two years of professional experience, including one in risk management, plus 200 hours of relevant risk management activities. Examination and application conditions also apply. If you cannot yet demonstrate that experience, check the provisional level. Training does not replace the required professional practice.

I have seen shorter Risk Manager agendas. Why does ELA show five days?

The duration here describes the ELA course format: four teaching days and the examination within a five-day offering. Other published agendas may use a different structure. For your planning, use the schedule, date and examination arrangements agreed and confirmed with ELA.

Can I learn risk assessment live in Hungarian?

Yes. Hungarian can be agreed as the teaching language for this PECB course. Live online and classroom teaching are offered, as are German and English classes. Examinations and official materials may use another language. This is confirmed before booking; a Hungarian exam is not automatically included.
