Course structure and delivery

The full course follows the 2-day PECB agenda. Learn live with a qualified trainer through exercises, discussion and practical cases. Online and classroom delivery cover the same content. Examination scheduling is agreed in line with the course agenda.

Online sessions are delivered live using alfaview. The Odoo portal provides course information and materials. Dates, teaching language and classroom location are agreed before the course starts.

Materials, examination and certification

The full course includes official PECB training materials, tuition in the selected format and the first PECB examination attempt.

The course prepares you for the PECB examination for ISO 31000 Foundation. After passing the exam, you can apply for the corresponding PECB credential. PECB assesses eligibility and awards the credential. This credential does not require professional or project experience. PECB examination and certificate rules apply.

Option: 4 hours of exam preparation

An optional four-hour live exam preparation session is available for €650. It is intended for participants who are already studying independently and does not replace the complete PECB course. Materials and examination arrangements for this option are agreed separately in advance.

Teaching and examination language

Teaching languages: German, English or Hungarian. The selected teaching language is confirmed when scheduling the course. Hungarian is a teaching language for this PECB course only and is not a promised examination language. The examination language and the language of official PECB materials are agreed separately before booking.

Frequently asked questions about this course

Does ISO 31000 fit if I do not work in IT risk management?

Yes. ISO 31000 addresses risk across organisations and industries. The nature of your task therefore matters more than having an IT job title. Project objectives, supplier dependencies or operational uncertainty can all provide useful starting points for learning how to discuss risk more systematically.

Why describe the objective before describing the risk?

Without an objective, a risk list can become arbitrary. Practise with something concrete, such as an agreed delivery date. Then ask what uncertainty could affect it and what consequences might follow. This turns a label such as supplier into a meaningful case for a decision.

Will Foundation certify my organisation to ISO 31000?

No. ISO 31000 provides guidance and is not intended as a basis for organisational certification like a certifiable management-system standard. Your PECB learning and examination route concerns a personal qualification. Keep these levels separate in your CV and corporate communications so the subject of assessment remains clear.

Do I need statistics or financial mathematics for Foundation?

For your starting point, focus on clear descriptions rather than complex calculations. Can you explain an objective, a possible event and its consequences? That is a useful foundation. Numbers can help later, but should not obscure the assumptions behind an assessment.

What simple practical example can I use to prepare?

Choose an important deadline that depends on an external partner. Describe the uncertainty, possible effects and one potential response. Then consider what information you still need to judge the situation. This small example is more useful for learning than a long list of disconnected risk terms.

Is Foundation enough if I will lead risk workshops?

Foundation is a useful introduction to shared terminology. For independently facilitated assessments, add deeper methods and practical experience, for example through the Risk Manager offering. Understanding risk and contributing to discussion is different from guiding conflicting workshop opinions towards a documented outcome.

Can I earn the personal Foundation credential without work experience?

No professional or project experience is required for the PECB Foundation credential. You still need to pass the examination and complete the required application. Use preparation for more than recognising terms: explain each key concept with an example of your own that is easy to follow.

How can I attend the two-day risk management introduction?

ELA offers Foundation over two days including the examination, live online or in person. Teaching language is agreed when scheduling. German, English and Hungarian are available; examination and official-material languages are checked separately and agreed before you book.
