Turn AI use into a clear management responsibility

ISO/IEC 42001 sets requirements for an artificial intelligence management system, or AIMS. It brings together objectives, responsibilities, risk assessment and improvement. It is relevant to organisations that develop, provide or use AI.

Everyday questions include: who approves an AI tool? How are risks assessed? What information is needed for a review? Choose your learning path according to the responsibilities you will take on.

Which course fits your role?

Three different areas of focus, with no mandatory sequence. The Lead courses require the relevant prior knowledge; a Foundation certificate is not a formal entry requirement.

Understand and contribute

For subject specialists, project teams and managers seeking an introduction to AI management.

Content and focus: Core concepts, AIMS structure, roles and requirements, operation and continual improvement.
Prior knowledge: No formal course prerequisites.

ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Implementer

Establish and improve

For AIMS project leads, AI governance professionals and consultants responsible for implementation.

Content and focus: Scope, responsibilities, risks, controls and documented processes, followed by effectiveness and improvement.
Prior knowledge: General knowledge of AIMS and ISO/IEC 42001.
Duration: 5 days · 4 training days + exam

ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor

Audit and make evidence-based assessments

For auditors and governance or compliance professionals with audit responsibilities.

Content and focus: Prepare audits, conduct interviews, assess evidence, document findings and follow up on actions.
Prior knowledge: A basic understanding of ISO/IEC 42001 and fundamental AI principles and concepts.
Duration: 5 days · 4 training days + exam

All three full courses are delivered live, online via alfaview or in person. Official PECB materials, training and the first PECB exam attempt are included. Your Odoo learning portal brings together course information and materials.

Teaching is available in German, English or Hungarian. Hungarian is a teaching language; the exam and materials languages are agreed separately, subject to availability.

Distinguish the course, the exam and the PECB credential

After passing the exam, apply for the appropriate PECB credential under its applicable requirements. For Lead Implementer and Lead Auditor, the grade available also depends on your professional experience and relevant project or audit activities. The course title alone does not confer a Lead credential.

Questions about choosing your learning path

Should everyone in our team take the same course?

Start with each person’s project responsibilities. Foundation provides a shared starting point. Someone establishing the AIMS needs a different focus from someone auditing its implementation. A combination of the three learning paths may therefore be useful for a team with varied responsibilities.

How do I choose between Lead Implementer and Lead Auditor?

Consider the result you need to produce. Designing processes, responsibilities and controls points towards Implementer. Assessing existing arrangements against requirements and evidence points towards Auditor. The perspectives complement each other but involve different ways of working.

Will our organisation be ISO/IEC 42001 certified after the training?

No. These courses develop individual skills, and a PECB credential relates to the individual. Certification of your organisation’s AI management system is a separate process carried out by a certification body. Training and an individual exam do not replace that process.

When is the MasterClass a suitable addition?

When your immediate questions concern data protection, roles and approval processes. The MasterClass develops that particular area; the PECB paths cover broader AIMS foundations, implementation or auditing.

What should we prepare for a consultation?

Tell us your role, previous knowledge of the standard and the result you need: an introduction, implementation or auditing. Add team size, teaching language, format and timeframe. A brief, anonymised description of your AI use is sufficient for an initial discussion.
